Family Breaks in Bournemouth at Marsham Court Hotel

December 24, 2022IN BLOG POSTS BY MARSHAM COURT HOTEL

Seaside holidays have traditionally been geared towards families, and that’s still largely the case. While Bournemouth has plenty to offer for adults visiting, both within the town and in the countryside around, it’s still the perfect location for a family holiday.

Marsham Court Hotel offers the perfect base for your family holiday in Bournemouth. There’s so much to do within walking distance, or at most a short bus ride, that you’ll need to come back next year for all the things you didn’t have time for.

Traditional Seaside Attractions in Bournemouth

The original focus of a family seaside holiday has always been the beach, and Bournemouth is perfect for that. With miles of award-winning beaches along the coast of Bournemouth Bay, you can relax while the kids play in sand. Maybe you can help them build a sandcastle, and there are plenty of cafés and shops for refreshments.

Then again, no seaside holiday is complete for the kids without a trip to the pier. Besides stunning views across the bay, Bournemouth Pier offers a high-quality amusement arcade and fun climbing challenges at the RockReef Adventure Activity Centre, along with a zipwire from pier to shore. There are a number of outlets for buying food, drinks — and, of course, ice creams.

Fun Attractions in Bournemouth

There are plenty of options, besides the pier, for the kids to have fun — and adults, too. Bowl Central, for instance, offers both bowling and a variety of classic games, while the town has plenty of mini-golf courses. Some of these are themed, such as Mr Mulligans, which has three space-themed mini-golf courses.

For a quieter attraction that the kids will love, Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park is aimed at children under eight, who can meet and feed donkeys, alpacas, deer and many other animals. In between animal encounters, they can enjoy tractor rides, bouncy castles and pedal go-karts, and there’s a restaurant and café for the whole family.

Exploring Bournemouth for the Whole Family

If you have children who love to learn, there are plenty of family-friendly opportunities. The Red House Museum and Gardens and the Bournemouth Natural Science Society cater for both adults and curious children, while the beautiful Boscombe Chine Gardens challenge kids with a quiz on its plants and animals as you wander around them.

If you want to see more of Bournemouth, both the kids and the grown-ups will have a great time taking a riverboat ride from Tuckton Tea Gardens, taking in town and countryside on the River Stour. Or, if you want to see Bournemouth in a more dramatic way, the 30-metre-tall Bournemouth Big Wheel offers spectacular views from enclosed gondolas.
