What to do in Bournemouth this Summer?

Hi everyone,

This summertime Bournemouth has a lot to offer, especially as the summer approaches. Below you can find a list of some of the events that will take place in the next 3 months.

JUNE

Poole Harbour Boat Show

Poole Quay, 7-9 June 2019

The fifth annual Poole Harbour Boat Show will return to our shores this June. With over 32,000 people in attendance in 2018 the Show continues to be the biggest-ever, FREE to attend Boat Show on the south coast. The Boat Show’s ambitions and theme are to get young people ‘on the water’.

In addition to more than an anticipated 200 exhibitors, over 100 boats will be on the water, including tall ships, celebrity style yachts and motors cruises. There will also be an impressive line-up of ‘on the water’ activities and workshops.

Dorset Moon featuring Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon

Bournemouth Central Gardens, 28-30 June 2019

If you thought the moon was out of reach, then it’s time to think again. It has travelled all over the world and wowed thousands, now Luke Jerram’s internationally acclaimed Museum of the Moon is making its way to Dorset for the first time as part of Dorset Moon; the exciting new arts event for summer 2019.

After stunning audiences all over the world Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Museum makes its Dorset debut in three stunning locations where, by the light of the mesmerising moonglow, a full programme of lunar-inspired events will create an experience that’s out of this world. Read more here.

JULY

Summer Live

The Square, Bournemouth, 12 July – 26 August 2019

Summer Live is a free event for all ages. It includes live music every day (from 5pm week days / from 12pm weekends). Visit the huts and watch the artists in action as they paint, draw and create. Other huts include Henna body art, beach themed jewellery and the delicious sweet selection.

Children are more than welcome. There are free entertainment shows during the last 2 weeks of August with Dr Balloonman, Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey, Count Backwards and Jamie Jigsaw. Find out more here.

Bourne Free – Bournemouth’s Pride Festival

The Triangle, Bournemouth, 12 – 14 July 2019

Bourne Free is Bournemouth’s LGBT Pride Festival. We invite you to join us for a weekend of fun and frolics, good music, great entertainment and of course the famous Parade. The parade is a celebration of equality and diversity in the Bournemouth community. Charities, groups and lots of individuals of all genders, sexualities and races are also joining in the celebrations, why not join them this year?

AUGUST

Bournemouth Friday Fireworks

Bournemouth Seafront, August 2019

Be prepared to be dazzled by the Bournemouth Fireworks display starting on Friday, the 26 July 2019. Join everyone at the seafront at 10 pm for an unforgettable experience. Find out more information here.

Bournemouth Air Festival 2019

Bournemouth Seafront, 29 August – 1 September 2019

This UK’s biggest air festival attracts over a million people every year for 4-days of action and entertainment. From water to air and special night displays there is definitely plenty to do and you won’t get bored! Read more about the festival here.
