Accessible Rooms
We have five accessible rooms with profiling beds and removable ceiling hoists. The 2 on the first floor are also dog friendly and one has a connecting standard double/twin bedded room ideal for a carer or additional family members which is also dog friendly.
On the 2nd floor there are 2 double/twins and a family room which has 1 standard double bed and 2 single profiling beds with ceiling hoist over.
All accessible rooms have wet rooms. Commode shower seats (tilting and static) are also available on request. The wetrooms do not have ceiling tracks and hoists but we do have a Changing Places shower and toilet on the ground floor which is available 24 hours a day for our residential guests.
These bedrooms have recently been adapted further to assist our guests with more specific needs. Removable, single-track, ceiling hoists and profiling beds have been fitted to assist our guests who may be traveling with a carer. Please note that some guests tell us that it is useful to bring WendyLett slide sheets with them (we are unable to supply these for you). 1
The beds profile to 85 degrees at the head and 12 inches up from under the knee which will then bring the feet up to a position that is most comfortable for the guest. They also adjust 18 inches vertically to assist carers when lifting.
Please note that there is either one bed base housing 2 single, independently controlled mattresses or 2 separate profiling beds. Please specify at the time of booking if you have a preference.

Please note, if you do not require the additional features of profiling beds or ceiling hoists, our other 2 accessible rooms can be booked online. Just look out for this specific room type in your search – if they are available for your dates they will show up in the results.

The Dorset Children’s Foundation (DCF)
We support The Dorset Children’s Foundation who run lots of activities that our guests can also take part in.
The Dorset Children’s Foundation (DCF) was founded in 2013 and is a small, independent charity created to enhance the lives of local disabled children and their families. We provide our Accessible for All programme of play and sports activities, Mental Health Counselling services for our families and fund support groups and Stay and Play sessions that help bring families of disabled children together. We also have a variety of special needs equipment that can be loaned out to families and in some cases, we provide funding for vital equipment.
In addition, we support educational workshops on disability to help raise awareness amongst the younger generations and work towards building a more inclusive society.
Each year the DCF grant at least one family the opportunity to visit Give Kids the World, a magical holiday resort in Florida, to create special memories that will last longer than a lifetime.
Our charity shops in Bournemouth cover our modest overheads so that every single penny donated goes directly to the children. The Dorset Children’s Foundation – Big enough to make a difference, small enough to care.
