Christmas in Bournemouth at Marsham Court Hotel

January 10, 2023IN BLOG POSTS BY MARSHAM COURT HOTEL

We tend to think of visiting seaside towns in summer, but Bournemouth offers attractions for all seasons — and none more than around Christmas. There’s plenty going on to enjoy, and Marsham Court Hotel provides the perfect base for it.

Christmas Tree Trail in Bournemouth

Bournemouth does Christmas in style, with spectacular illuminations everywhere, creating the celebrated Christmas Tree Trail. This leads throughout the town, but the most spectacular part of it is in the Lower Gardens.

The trail features replica Christmas trees from around the world, with illuminations and installations throughout the course. The centrepiece is the 60-foot walk-through Bournemouth Wonderland Tree, featuring light and audio shows through the route.

The Christmas Tree Trail is a magical experience for the kids, while the adults can also appreciate the beauty and sophisticated displays all around.

Christmas Shopping in Bournemouth

In the lead-up to Christmas, Bournemouth Square in the town centre plays host to the Christmas Alpine Market. You can find outlet stalls with traditional and hand-crafted gifts, as well as food stalls providing festive treats such as Hog Roast, Bratwurst sausages and luxury Hot Chocolate.

In addition to the Christmas Market, there’s a wealth of Christmas shopping available from the regular shops, both in Bournemouth itself and in the villages around the centre, such as Southbourne, Boscombe and Westbourne. Christmas shopping ranges from the mainstream to eclectic independent shops — and all beautifully decorated for the season.

Things to Do in Bournemouth

While you might not be able to lounge on the beach (though it’s still perfect for scenic walks), Bournemouth in December offers a wealth of things to do. There are two ice rinks, for example — SKATE’s seasonal outdoor rink in the Lower Gardens, along with Moguls Alpine Bar, and the permanent Cool Coast Ice Rink, the largest indoor rink on the south coast.

In addition, there’s Bournemouth’s famous pantomime, always featuring major stars. And, needless to say, you can enjoy the same choice of restaurants, bars and live music that you’ll find in Bournemouth throughout the year.

Any holiday needs the right base, and around Christmas you need somewhere that’s comfortable and welcoming, as well as being convenient for everything you want to do. Marsham Court Hotel is all that. Just five minutes walk from both the Christmas Market and the start of the Christmas Tree Trail (as well as convenient for most parts of Bournemouth), you’ll get a warm welcome every time you come back.

If any member of your family has accessibility issues, we’re an accessible hotel. We have everything from fully accessible and well-equipped bedrooms to our new, award-winning Changing Places facility.

On the other hand, if you want your family Christmas trip to include the canine members, well-behaved dogs are very welcome. Not only will they receive a welcome pack on arrival, but there are several areas around the hotel where they’re welcome to share your mealtimes, enjoying items from our special doggy menu.
