From Last-Minute to Unforgettable: Hosting a Private Ladies Lunch & ABBA Cabaret

When plans change, people matter most

Sometimes, the most memorable events come together with very little notice. On Sunday 18 January 2026, we received a last-minute request to host a private Ladies Lunch with live ABBA cabaret entertainment and we were pleased to help make it happen.

What followed was one of those days that reminds us why we do what we do. With just a short lead time, our team came together to deliver a smooth, welcoming and memorable experience for a large party of guests, performers and organisers.

Afterwards, we received some kind words from the event organiser, which we’re proud to share with their permission.

“Having had a day to relax… I take this opportunity to congratulate you and your staff with hearty thanks for your superb handling of our urgent request to accommodate our last-minute booking… Definitely a 5 Star service in all respects.”

A dining experience to remember

One thing mentioned by many guests was how much they enjoyed the food. According to the organiser:

“Many diners said it was the best meal they have had in a restaurant.”

We don’t take that kind of feedback for granted. It speaks volumes about the care taken by our kitchen team, who prepared the meals from scratch with attention to detail and timing.

As anyone who’s planned an event knows, running to time is everything. Our dining service was coordinated with the organiser’s schedule, which included speeches, entertainment and formal elements. From the kitchen to the front-of-house team, everyone pulled in the same direction.

Behind the scenes, working in sync

From the reception team welcoming guests, to the staff setting up the dining space and performance area, the coordination that goes into events like this is a real team effort.

We were especially pleased to hear that the ABBA tribute band appreciated the facilities provided for their performance. The Boardroom layout worked well as a stage space, with good access and technical support available where needed.

Thoughtful service, even under pressure

It’s always a privilege to be trusted with events that matter to people. And when things happen quickly, it’s even more important to make guests feel supported, calm and at ease.

“I have received many compliments from our guests regarding your hotel décor, friendly reception and superb dinner service.”

The organiser closed their message with a note that meant a lot to our team:

“I believe that the many attending Lodges Masters will view your hotel with a view to holding their events in the future.”

While we never take future bookings for granted, it’s reassuring to know that a positive experience today might lead to new connections tomorrow.

To the organiser, the performers and all the guests – thank you for letting us be part of your event. Whether you book months in advance or get in touch the day before, we’ll always do what we can to make it work.

We don’t believe in fuss or overpromising. But we do believe in doing things properly, treating people kindly and caring about the details that matter most.
