Visitor Charge

** As of the 28th June 2024 – collection of the levy has been suspended pending an appeal. Should the appeal be unsuccessful, the charge will be collected as detailed below. **

An Accommodation Business Improvement District (ABID) to help the tourism industry has been introduced for eligible Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole accommodation providers and will come into force from 1st July 2024. It is similar to a city or tourist tax that you may find abroad and is charged at £2.40 per room per night which will be collected at the hotel on your arrival. The levy cannot be waivered for any reason.

All the money collected will go to the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Accommodation BID  to be spent on placemaking which will help us continue to provide green, clean and safe places. It will help to fund and create events for our conurbations like the Air Festival, Arts by the Sea, Poole Christmas Maritime Festival, Christchurch Food Festival and Christmas Tree Wonderland just to mention a few, which we hope guests can enjoy all year round.

It also means that we will have the opportunity to create marketing campaigns for the tourism industry to make sure our conurbation can thrive and to continue to provide much needed jobs within our industry.

Please note: If you are travelling on a Group Booking please refer to your terms & conditions.
